Waste ManagementFrench Gerleman offers convenient bulk recycling solutions in coordination with Waste Management. If you are interested in setting up a bulk recycling program for your company, please contact your French Gerleman Account Manager or contact us to review available program options.

Program Guidelines:
  • Minimum pick-up quantity by French Gerleman is 1 case/box 
  • Empty boxes/barrels will be supplied at no charge provided they are returned with the product. 
  • All lamps, ballasts, batteries and electronics must be presorted in separate containers prior to pick-up.
  • Container labels specifying lamps, ballast, batteries and electronics types are available at no charge.
  • Small quantities of broken lamps will be charged per lamp, large quantities will be charged per pound.
  • Additional freight charges may apply for pick-up in certain geographic areas.
Certificate of Recycling
Once the bulk product has been received and verified by Waste Management a Certificate of Recycling will be issued to French Gerleman. This certificate will be included with your invoice for documentation of recycling services.

 Acceptable Universal Waste

Lamps
All lamps including incandescent bulbs are listed in the EPA UNIVERSAL WASTE RULE. All lamps with the exception of incandescents, halogens and LEDs contain mercury, a hazardous material that is dangerous to human health and the environment.  More information on lamp regulations.

Types of lamps:  linear fluorescent, compact fluorescent, Ubent, circular, high intensity discharge (HID), low-pressure sodium (LPS), metal halide (MH), mercury vapor (MV), shattershield, coated, power groove, incandescent, halogen, LED, neon and ultraviolet (UV).
 
 
Ballasts
Electrical lighting ballast and other electrical equipment may contain various regulated materials including PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls are TSCA regulated), contaminated oils, asphalt potting compounds and heavy metals that cannot be land-filled except in permitted Hazardous Waste landfills under RCRA and CERCLA regulations.
 
Types of ballast and electrical equipment: PCB ballast, non-PCB ballast, capacitors, transformers, regulators, circuit breakers and switches.
 
 
Batteries
Batteries contain various hazardous materials including acids, reactives, toxics and heavy metals.
 
All battery types: lead acid, alkaline, nickel, lithium, mercury, zinc carbon, zinc air and magnesium.
 
 
E-Scrap
Computers and other electrical equipment may contain hazardous materials including heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury and batteries.
 
E-Scrap types: all computer components, CRTs, LCDs, TVs, other monitors, CPUs, towers, hard drives, floppy drives, printers, fax machines, copiers, mainframes, servers, routers, peripherals, mouse, speakers, modems, tape drives, stereos, VCRs, DVD players, keyboards, telephone systems, cell phones, power supplies, office electronics, UL rack mounted electronics, wire and motors.
 
 
Mercury Devices
Under the EPA UNIVERSAL WASTE RULE, mercury-containing devices can be handled as Universal Waste.  
 
Mercury Waste Types:  thermometers, barometers, thermostats, switches, precision instruments and medical devices.
 
 
WASTE NOT ACCEPTED
The following items will be returned at generators expense: self-illuminating exit signs containing radioactive ingredients, mercury-containing novelties, PCB transformers, microwaves, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, water heaters, furnaces, space heaters, air conditioning units, drinking fountains, electrical appliances and X-ray machines.
